Fatima Al Qadiri Arabic: فاطمة القديري, born July, 1981 is a Kuwaiti musician and conceptual artist, currently based in Berlin, Germany. She is interested in exploring the experience of war, memory, Western perceptions of other cultures, and sociocultural identity through her work. She is a member of the group Future Brown. Fatima Al Qadiri is the daughter of Mohammed Al Qadiri, a former Kuwaiti diplomat and writer, and Thuraya Al-Baqsami, an internationally acclaimed artist and writer. Her sister. Senegal-born, Kuwait-raised, New York-based producer Fatima Al Qadiri works in the opposite direction of most artists' discographies by making her third substantial release, following the Genre-Specific Xperience UNO and Desert Strike Fade to Mind EPs, her least personal one yet. The former connected materialistic aspects of Middle Eastern and Western cultures while dipping into several strains of dance music, as well as some of the styles she heard in her youth. Geographically pinning down Fatima Al Qadiri raised in Kuwait but now based between London and New York isnt straightforward, even before you hit play on her otherworldly, Chinese-fixated debut album. That Asiatisch is German for Asian provides some guidance. Yet darker inspirations lurk among the undergrowth of her Sino-themed, Euro-influenced electronic landscapes: shards of grimes icy bass and sparse percussion ghosts of Amon Tobin or Björks explorative extremes. Asiatischs introduction is Shanzhai, named with a wink afte. Released May 5, 2014. Asiatisch Tracklist. Top Asiatisch scholars. Producer Fatima Al Qadiri. Label Hyperdub. Featuring Helen Feng. Although not a fully conceptual piece, Asiatisch provides an inner look into the chinese culture from a post-modernist point of view. All of the tracks on the album venture towards the Country's recent History, despite it standing very far from being. read more. tha138. PagesPublic figureMusicianBandFatima Al Qadiri.
