Album

This is a list of songs co-written by Gerry Goffin. Goffin 19392014 was an American lyricist, who formed a successful songwriting partnership with his wife, Carole King. Their first success was Will You Love Me Tomorrow, recorded by the Shirelles and a hit in 1961. Goffin later wrote lyrics for songs with several other composers, most notably Michael Masser. Pearls: Songs of Goffin & King - Carole King. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей. Still, the CD's a smartly chosen sampling of material for those who want to hear more Goffin-King compositions than what's most commonly available, with excellent liner notes covering both the composers' early careers and these specific recordings. When Goffin and King's rhapsodic Will You Love Me Tomorrow elevated the Shirelles to Number One in late 1960 making them the first all-female group to summit the charts the songwriting newlyweds became a hot commodity practically overnight. Goffin and King were no exception. Using Dee Dee Sharp's recent smash, a Twist clone called Mashed Potato Time, as a blueprint, the pair penned a relentless tune called The Loco-Motion. The song remained a favorite of Gerry Goffin, who later ranked it among the best he ever wrote. King clearly felt similarly, including it as the closing track on her debut solo album, 1970's Writer. Carole King first recorded this ballad on her iconic album Tapestry in 1971. James Taylor, who provided backing on the song, recorded his own version the same year and scored an even bigger hit with it. Carole King and former husband Gerry Goffin wrote this song back in 1962 for Bobby Vee, but a demo version recorded by Carole herself gave her an early hit in the same year. The recording was only ever meant to be a demo, which is why all digital releases of are of inferior quality compared to other songs of the era
